Terrorism hysteria

by Bruce Wadd

The television news shrieked the warning.  The newspaper headings, the internet headlines and the radio broadcasts – all said the same thing!  “Heathrow airport, the world’s busiest airport, was under imminent threat of a terrorist attack.”

Authorities had been placed on high alert.  Airlines had increased security; staff were instructed to be extremely vigilant, looking for unusual occurrences which could indicate an impending disaster.  Passengers were understandably nervous, with the slightest departure from normal triggering panic amongst the crowds.

In my cynical mind, I sit here, on the other side of the world, and wonder whether this is the way that terrorist organisations want it.  By dropping hints to officialdom, creating a minor ruckus, the inferno of hysteria quickly rages out of control, especially once the media catch hold of ‘news’ item.

We are being held hostage without anything actually happening!

Remember, you too can be held hostage individually.  No one else need know the battle, but the devil wants to get you to a point – may already has you there – where through just a mention of disaster and your mind goes into a spin.

This is where you need to rely on the truth of God.  Fall back on His word for your life

“Always be full of joy in the Lord…Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything; tell God your needs and don’t forget to thank him for your answers.”
 Philippians 4:4,6

Today, let God overrule any hysteria in your life!
