Sponge let down by
Some people really love them, but I have to admit I find sponge cakes a waste of time! They are often well decorated, luscious looking and tasty creations, but are such a let down when eaten!
Imagine yourself at a party. There is a sense of expectation when the cake is finally cut – here is my chance to experience the exquisite taste!
Life may regularly have its ‘sponge cake’ experiences, where you are really looking forward to something, and then the actual event pales to insignificance.
As a Christian, sin increasingly mimics this ‘let down’.
So, let me ask you… Where is your true pleasure coming from? What gives you your core happiness? Do you realize that you can only really be satisfied when you are living in Christ?
Jesus said, “If you
only knew what a wonderful gift you would ask Me for some living water!” John 4:10
TODAY, bite into Jesus Christ, and be truly satisfied!

As portions of the cake
are passed around, I finally get the chance to taste this masterpiece. Wiping
the drool from the side of my mouth, I take the first bite. My teeth sink
into nothingness, and then I realize that this perfect looking piece of
decadence was full of air with some sugar and flour added. What a let down!
A disappointment! A rip-off!
