Seeing it

by Bruce Wadd

This is a delicate area, but it’s best to talk about it openly.  Temptation comes in many forms for both men and women.  Sometimes it is subtle, but other times the appealing nature of sin screams at you with all its seductive power.

Because I am a man, let me use a particular example.  There is a lie that the devil uses with great effectiveness on many males – the visual pleasure of a woman!  God made the fairer species extremely attractive to a man, but the devil has twisted the beauty of the flesh and linked it with intimacy of relationship.

In our society both men and women are continually bombarded with visual stimulation, the amount rapidly increasingly with the growth of media in recent years.

But I challenge you to see the ‘truth versus lie’ struggle facing us.  Having a visual attraction to someone won’t necessarily lead to long-term happiness!  In fact it will probably lead to long-term disaster!

Read one of God’s instructions for temptation…

“But He gives us more and more strength to stand

against all such evil longings.  As the Scripture says,

God gives strength to the humble, but sets

Himself against the proud and haughty.”

James 4:6

TODAY, see through the temptations by humbly submitting to God’s will!
