Scratch-it odds by
My son came home a few days ago having bought his first ever scratch-it. He was excited, and sat on the lounge as the rest of the family tuned into the experience.
With nine circles to be scratched, the task was to reveal three matching numbers, to win a prize. The ultimate prize was $250, 000, and for a young man starting out in life, a significant carrot!
Several low numbers appeared. Then he got his first $250K. The audience, his family, pressed a little closer. A second $250K appeared, and silent tension captured everyone. What was going to be revealed?
It was the final unscratched circle. What was underneath? Was everyone ready for the answer?
Gradually, my teen, milking the moment for all it was worth, scratched a two, then a 5, then a zero. Everyone was poised for great celebration, ready to split with winnings, only to discover two zeros.
Life without God can hold so much shattered expectation. But in Him, you have an eternal destiny that has already been scratched – the odds are a certainty – you are going to win!
“You will keep guiding me all my life with Your wisdom and counsel; and afterwards receive me into the glories of heaven!” Psalms 73:24
