Off the pack

by Bruce Wadd

Road cyclists know the practicality of riding in a pack.  It makes a lot of sense, saves lots of energy, and gives you much greater longevity.  Dropping away from the group means to rejoin you need to push doubly hard, investing incredible amounts of energy, both physically and mentally.

Most riders say that it takes too much energy to rejoin if you have broken your connection!

Recently, I drove as support driver for a seven hundred kilometre cycling adventure and the truth of pack riding became very evident.  Most of the time riders took off in groups of three or four to ride their thirty to fifty “k” stint.

As a rider tired they started to wobble, push harder up hills, and eventually falling away from the pack. At first it was only a metre or two, and then quickly he will have dropped right away, lacking the energy and will power to get back to the group.  It’s all over for him!

So to, you, as a burgeoning Christian, gain great rewards from being among fellow believers.  To have Spirit-filled loving friends sharing their lives with yours empowers you to face life’s many facets.  To be without your Christian ‘pack’ takes so much energy, it is virtually impossible.

Here is God’s counsel for you to consider!

“Admit your faults to one another and pray for each other so that you may be healed.  The earnest prayer of a

righteous man has great power and wonderful results.”  James 5:16

TODAY, join the ‘pack’ of Christians… and be healed and strengthened!
