Heat of the moment by
As I walked up and down the rows of stalls I came across several stallholders still in their cars, running very late, driving to their designated spots. Their cars, full of produce, were manoeuvring strategically between the growing crowds, produce, awnings and animals. The drivers were obviously tense and frustrated because of their lateness, missing their early business.
From one frustrated driver’s window, I heard an explosion of expletives. She was trying to negotiate a difficult right hand turn and the stubborn stallholder behind was refusing to give the driver in front enough room to reverse and renegotiate the turn.
The lady behind held up her hands, looked heavenward, and let out an unrepeatable sigh of frustration. Things were getting no where. ‘Perceived pressure’ was hard at work, doing it's job... spoiling the day for these two traders!
The onlookers despite being wary of the cars, but were enjoying the little tête-à-tête!
Who was creating the pressure? How was each person handling the difficult moment? Do you sometimes have pressure in your life? Who creates it? Do you let it dominate you, in the heat of the moment?
The devil loves to raise the pressure gradient whenever he can - anything to upset your peace and power in the present! But let me share a truth with you, that you can hang onto when the ‘moment’s heat’ arrives.
“Here on this earth you will have many trials and sorrows; but cheer up, for I have overcome the world.” John 16:33
TODAY, remember that you serve a God that can handle heat!
