Don’t throw away the key by It probably sounds absolutely ludicrous, but do you know
someone silly enough to spend every day of his or her life sitting in a
locked prison cell? By choice? The key
to the cell sits on the floor at a reachable distance through the bars. To make this scenario even more ridiculous, this person
spends each day contemplating throwing away the key! You wouldn’t know anyone that crazy, would you? Well, you are listening to one right
now! I have found myself in that
position quite regularly. Let me
explain… If someone wrongs me, I am immediately handed a key of
choice! At that point I am in an
extremely powerful yet vulnerable position, having the choice to let that ‘wrong’
lock me in to bitterness, distrust, anger and broken relationship. Every time I think about that wrong, how it has affected
my life negatively, I choose to stay locked in the cell. If I contemplate the misdemeanour even
further, I am spending time “wanting to throw away the key” – any possibility
of freedom from anger! But, I do have the opportunity to release myself from
prison, at any moment. How, you ask? Through forgiving the wrong. Forgiving someone is like putting the key
in the lock, turning it so the door swings open, allowing you to walk free
from connection with your past. What wrongs are you still thinking about? Events from today, yesterday, last week,
last year, even from your tender childhood!
The only way to be released from your lock-up - forgive!!
TODAY, unlock your door to freedom by forgiving those
who have wronged you!
