Changing lights

by Bruce Wadd

Predicting when traffic lights are going to change has become a real art form for both my son and myself.  Because I have taken on the responsibility of teaching him how to drive, one of the key aspects I’ve endeavoured to show him is that fluent driving is good for passengers, vehicle maintenance and the bank balance.

Every time we drive together we try and adjust the speed of the car so that we avoid stopping, and arrive at the lights when they are about to turn green.  There is something positive (must be an ego trip!) about speeding ahead of the stopped traffic, getting well in front before anyone realises it!

I believe your Christian life can be the same.  Regularly you face challenges, some expected, but many unexpected.  When you are in God, you can get to a point where it doesn’t matter whether the lights are red, orange or green, life can continue in Him.

Here’s a God directive for your life of fluent living,

“And when you draw close to God, God will draw close to you.  Wash your hands, you sinners, and let your hearts be filled with God alone to make them pure and true to Him.”  James 4:8

TODAY, expected the unexpected… live with fluency!
