Beyond new love by
[WARNING: This article may cause some controversy!]
Both were in their mid forties, excited about their new love, and were now surprised to have my cheery hello thrust into their morning stroll. I resisted being uncomfortable, and launched into short but friendly banter before moving on.
These work mates were in their second marriages, and now seemingly launching into their third long-term relationship.
Without judging the five minutes I had with them, let me you ask a question which is also a reflection for my own twenty-plus year relationship.
When will they get beyond the infatuation? The newness is exciting and fresh, but a long-term relationship demands so much more. Where is the patience, the long suffering, the acceptance despite disagreement... and the list goes on?
Choosing to be a follower of Christ means staying in relationship with Him, particularly through the difficult times! A new, deeper and more mature understanding comes gradually, with blessings overflowing because of faithfulness.
Are you faithful to your life partner? More importantly, faithful to God?
Don't keep changing what you were taught about Christ, or else God will no longer be with you. But if you hold firmly to what you were taught, both the Father and the Son will be with you. 2 John 1:9
TODAY, be faithful... The rewards will come!
