Bathurst mechanic

by Bruce Wadd

If you live in Australia and you overhear conversation about the Bathurst 1000, the majority of people, would quickly know what you are referring to.

Bathurst 1000 is the most well known endurance car race around the famous Mt. Panorama circuit. Car manufacturers, Ford and Holden, race their V8s for 1000 kilometres on the annual October holiday weekend. It’s where drivers become the true heroes, battling heat, rain, tiredness, faulty vehicles and multiple crashes.

But today I wanted to focus on the unsung heroes of the race – the mechanics. Their goal, when arriving for this famous occasion, is to spend the time fine-tuning and repairing the vehicles, so that their drivers has the best chance of finishing, and possibly winning the race.

The majority of the work is done prior to the race starting. With testing and ideas finished, the emergencies take the focus on the race weekend.

God’s goal for your life is for you to finish the race, to travel the entire journey with Him. He has provided everything you need prior to the ‘race’, and He continues to give you what is needed, even for the emergencies, for finishing and winning the race.

Here is Paul’s idea for you to contemplate…

“And I am sure that God who began the good work within you will keep right on helping you grow in His grace

until His task within you is finally finished

on that day when Jesus Christ returns.”

Philippians 1:6

TODAY, let God do the ‘mechanical’ work in your life!
