Bad potato

by Bruce Wadd

My wife walked into the kitchen from a day’s work and queried, ‘What’s that smell?’ When this happens, everything stops whilst the nose goes to work looking for the offending problem.

Because my job in our home is rubbish removal, I am usually the offender. But this time the rubbish was sniffed and everything was fine. The fridge was opened and nostrily inspected – also coming up ‘clean’!

Then the pantry cupboard was opened. We were all virtually knocked over by the smell. Something in there was ‘bad’, and it was letting the world know!

Before long the offending item, a rotting potato, was discovered and removed. But equally important, each adjoining potato was carefully inspected and washed – even the container was sterilized – so that the offensive smell was totally removed. If not, my wife indicated, all the potatoes would eventually go bad!

Same too with attitudes and people! One bad attitude eventually spoils the rest! Hanging around with people will influence your behaviour. Better make sure it’s for good!

Here’s God’s command to Joshua regarding his ‘bad potatoes’…

“Yes, be bold and strong. Banish fear and doubt!

For remember, the Lord your God is with you

wherever you go.”

Joshua 1:9

TODAY, get rid of any bad smells!
