Janet Jackson | What About | Unofficial Lyric Video

To celebrate the 19th anniversary of Janet Jackson’s influential “The Velvet Rope” album, I put together a video featuring one of the most powerful songs from that album “What About”.

Janet has always used her music and her platform to speak on many social topics including, racism, homelessness, illiteracy, domestic violence, etc.

Nearly 20 people per minute are physically abused by an intimate partner in the United States.1 in 3 women have been victims of [some form of] physical violence by an intimate partner within their lifetime.

If you or someone you know is a victim of domestic violence please visit: for more information

  1. This video is incredible… it really brings the power of the song to light. Janet Jackson is THE #EmpressOfPop even if some artists didn't suffer a radio blackout and had more hits, NOBODY has tackled the range of social issues in their music that Janet has. That's why 20 and 30 year later we still find her music relevant.
