Thirsty

by Brandy Ferguson

There is a window seat in our kitchen that is home for most of our house plants.  They’re placed in a prime location for sunlight, and within easy reach for watering and pruning.

There’s only one small problem – I get so busy sometimes that I forget that they need their very life-sustaining ingredient – water!

It doesn’t take long before I notice them starting to wilt, their thirsty leaves drooping and begging for drink.  I am glad I have some hardy plants that bounce back quickly and can go long periods of time without nourishment.

How often do I treat myself in this same manner spiritually?  Should I expect to be any different than a plant without water if I go too long without spending time with God?

“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.”

  Matthew 5:6

Thirsty today?
