July 2002 Newsletter - Jessica Smith, Loren Sanford, Chris Surdock, Ray Watson and the Australasian Worship Music Sampler

ShareSong.org artist Matt Adams of Granger Community Church has given ShareSong.org a glowing rap on his church’s resource website - Wired Churches.  Matt gives a great testimonial of how he has been blessed by people’s responses to his songs that have been downloaded via from the internet:

“This is what ShareSong.org is all about: resourcing churches with fresh worship music for no cost. At Granger Community Church, we are passionate about resourcing other churches. In fact, it’s a part of our vision statement. We want to help equip churches and church leaders to assist them in ministry. ShareSong.org is a great resource to churches all over the world, and I am proud to now be a part of the ShareSong vision, just like I’m proud to be a part of GCC.”

Australasian Worship Music Sampler

Another ShareSong.org artist, Chris Fitzell has been selected to be part of an Australasian Worship Music Sampler - "Divinely Beautiful - Modern Worship Down Under."  This exciting new project is releasing mid-August from Three:16 records. It is a compilation of 18 songs by Australian and New Zealand artists.

Chris was chosen to be part of the project after being heard on the first ShareSong.org Sampler CD released last year to radio stations.  Along with Chris, the other participating artists include Parachute Band, Sons of Korah, Claire Hazzard, Compliments of Gus, House2house band, Roma Waterman, Blind, Form, Felt and Andy Sorenson and Kathy Johnson.  As well as the audio, the “Divinely Beautiful” CD also contains .pdf files of the print music from the recording. The album will be available from all good Christian bookstores throughout Australia and New Zealand, or direct from Three:16 records at www.three16records.com.

Chris has been the most downloaded artist through June and July.  Keep an eye out for her new “Everything I See” album, which will be released on ShareSong.org next month.

Featured Artists

Jessica Smith

It’s great to have some repeat offenders on ShareSong.org.  Jessica Smith’s “So Real” is the latest release from RPJ Christian Arts Group.  RPJ’s last project, Dennis Burnett’s “Beyond Natural Limits”.  "RPJ's last project, "Beyond Natural Limits," had the #1 most downloaded song for six months of ShareSong.org’s existence.   Jessica Smith’s new album raises the bar even higher for RPJ.

Most people describe the music of singer-songwriter Jessica Smith in two words: diverse and deep.  This wide range of music comes from the heart of a twenty-year-old woman, avoiding stylistic pigeonholes by writing the songs that inspire her emotionally and spiritually.

Ray Watson

Ray Watson has finally released his new album “Secret Place”.  On this album, Ray is confrontingly intimate with God with some serious prayer and petition to God.  You can’t just listen to this as background music.  It will take you on a journey into the Holy Place and draw you to seek God’s face.

Loren Sanford

Loren Sanford is the senior pastor of the New Song Fellowship in Denver, in the flow of the worldwide renewal and revival currently being poured out by the Spirit of God. NSF is part of the Partners in Harvest family of churches out of the Toronto Airport Christian Fellowship.  Loren writes some great worship music, as well as writing on "life issues" – the coffee house set. The worship is for the church and the coffee house set is designed specifically to reach the world.

Chris Surdock

Chris Surdock is the worship leader at Southcoast Community Church in San Diego and has just released "I'm So Excited".  “I believe that as a Worship Leader, I must stir up desire in the heart of the believer to ‘get real’ and worship God in a more intimate way! After all He deserves it, right? I really strive to lead worship by example. After all, I couldn't possibly lead others into worship if I am not worshiping Him first?” says Chris.  “My desire is that the worshiper will learn to be expressive in their worship to God.  I know that worshiping God is instrumental in preparing the heart of the worshiper to hear and receive God's word.”

Happy listening… until next time.

Blessing
