Digital Audio

If you already have a recording of your song(s) you will now need to convert it to mp3 format and post it to the Internet.

You can use a program such as Windows Media Player, Apple Itunes or Musicmatch to rip files from your CD to your computer.

Because of the relative size and bandwidth required of digital audio files, ShareSong.org does not host hi-fi quality (e.g. 128kbps) size files.

ShareSong.org will host your lo-fi (i.e. less than 900KB) mp3 files in the database.  These files stream instantly and are intended to give a preview of the song without being able to download it.   You can use a program such as dBpowerAMP Music Converter, Switch, Audacity or Musicmatch

Try converting your 3 - 4 minute mp3 file to 16 or 32kbps mono to get it under the 900KB limit.  If the converted file is not less than 900KB try using a lower encoding rate (e.g. 16kbs rather than 24kbs).

Remember, this format is only intended to give a preview of the song, with the hi-fi format for quality listening.  We suggest that you upload the hi-fi files to your website or a hosting site such as myspace, CDbaby, and link to them from ShareSong.org using the hi-fi audio link.
