Windy exhilaration

by Bruce Wadd

The highlight of my family’s holiday to the Whitsundays – an island paradise in northern Queensland, Australia – was a three-day sailing adventure.  Despite the fact that we had to motor most of the time because of the light winds, being on the water with family and friends was something most memorable.

Unfortunately, like most good holidays, it had to come to an end.  Upon raising the anchor on the last morning we sailed up one side of Whitsunday Island, through a narrow passage between islands, and then we set our compass towards the home port.  It would take over three hours of motoring, given the light breeze, and thus we settled back to enjoy the ride.

Time went slowly - the suntan matured, the chocolates nibbled, Scrabble played and coffee was sipped on the long final return leg.

As we rounded the last island and caught the distant view of the port, the breeze started to pick up.  The skipper decided to raise sails and kill the engine.

With gusts sweeping down off the adjacent hills it was fabulous watching the water ripple, then the sail tighten, and finally the boat respond by leaning and increasing in speed.  The boat was doing what it was built to do - sail!

What are you meant to do?  You are a child of God with an eternal destiny beyond this earth.  Why not let the Holy Spirit blow through your life today, following His direction being driven by His power!

“…in the new way, the Holy Spirit gives them life.”

2 Corinthians 3:6

TODAY, live the exhilarating experience of being in the Spirit!
