White line fever

by Bruce Wadd

The commentator confidently called it as he saw it, “He’s got ‘white line fever’!”

‘What’s that?’, I queried to the TV screen.

Let me explain it in non-footy terms. In the game of rugby league, like many other games, the main aim is to get this oval-shaped ball pressed to the ground on or over a white line – the goal line.  The effort expended, the brilliance shown, by each team is for that one purpose – to score tries!

As I watched my favourite team, who unfortunately lost on the day, a player broke through the resistance and ran towards the try line.  Just before he crossed for a try, two defenders converged on this player, he panicked, and with the crowd screaming in the background, reached out his arm with the ball attached, but dropped the leather ball before planting it on the grass for a try.

If he had only waited he certainly would have got the points, but impatience got the better of the situation, and no points were the result – white line fever!

Let me encourage you this morning via this thought. ‘Hang in there when everything seems to be against you, and every part of you screams escape or give up.  Be patient, and trust God, knowing that He will bring everything good to fruition as you are faithful to Him!’

In God’s words,

“You need to keep on patiently doing God’s will

if you want Him to do for you all that He has promised.”

Hebrews 10:36

TODAY, resist white line fever… trust Him!
