Maranatha! Music began as a ministry of Calvary Chapel which gives it a rich heritage of song writing.  The philosophy of Calvary Chapel Music is to continue to get the music out to bless the church at large and let God bring the rewards.  In line with this belief we now have 122 of CCM’s tracks available at ShareSong.org.

Pastor Chuck’s desire is for CC Music to create music that engages congregations—songs that can be sung and choruses that have meaning.  "For many years it has been my desire to provide worship songs from Calvary Chapels that churches could use without having to pay a licensing fee for congregational singing.  The dream is to facilitate worship for every believer and every Calvary Chapel Church, large and small, at home and abroad."

The Word in Song team is working on putting every key verse in the Bible into song.  Their hope is that these songs will be played in people’s homes so that they can memorise God’s promises and put them into action in their daily living.   “There is something wonderful about music that can take the word of God and embed it into peoples’ hearts,” says project coordinator Cedric Taylor. “Each CD contains the key verses from a book in the bible set to song in a refreshing and catchy way. The words are straight from the Bible, and the tunes are easy to remember. These CD's are a wonderful aid to memorization, meditation and personal worship.  Download 173 tracks for free!

Song Writers’ Forum

On 24 August a small group of songwriters got together in the "Upper Room" at Gateway Baptist Church (Brisbane, Australia) to share songs they had been writing, give each other feedback (see feedback and tips sheet), network, and encourage growth in their local song writing community (see proposal for more details).  The performances were recorded for local use and international distribution through ShareSong.org.

Panel member Rhys McFadden said "we need to be writing songs and doing art that reflects the theology, culture and spiritual journey of our local community.  Singing forms a massive part of our corporate worship, so it’s a pity to have to import a mass-franchised musical formula which means that every church ends up looking, tasting and sounding the same."

Coordinator Marty Kendall said he hopes that this will lay the foundation for other local communities to hold these sorts of events locally to encourage a creative culture within their churches, the fruits of which can then be shared with churches around the world through ShareSong.org.
