Remembered to overcome by Bruce Wadd
A long time ago when attending teacher’s college a smell impregnated itself in my memory. The odour of cooking Weetbix – an Aussie breakfast cereal icon - will always be prominent in my life.
I thought this memory had disappeared till the other day as I was driving past a similar factory. The same aroma wafted into the nasal passages and immediately returned me to the many stored images, memories and emotions of that part of my life!
You, too, have many memories of your life stored. Some parts are good, some, not so good!!
Circumstances may have brought back something to you today - a memory of something painful or shameful from your past, an event that normally you don’t contemplate!
You can only deal with your past, if you are willing to acknowledge it. But thankfully, you can also give it up to God, if you choose, and move on!
To overcome, you must remember, and then release it to Him!!
“If we confess our sins, God is faithful and just to forgive our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” 1 John 1:9
TODAY, remember and then overcome. |
