Living in the rear view mirror

by Bruce Wadd

Let me ask you a question…Why live in the past when you have a future?

Good question!  Imagine driving along a road on a pleasant sunny day.  Suddenly a car flashes past you, narrowly missing your vehicle, travelling in the opposite direction. Your first reaction is to glance into the rear view mirror, to see what is going on!

But imagine from then on focusing most of your time in the rear vision mirror to drive your car, just so you felt safe.  The time you spent looking forward lessens as you gaze backwards to work out what has been happening! What a ludicrous thought!

But it’s not as ridiculous as it sounds.  Many people have things happen in their life that encourages them to live in the rear view mirror.  They forget that life is to be lived right now, with a view to the future.

God came to give us life, and to live it more abundantly.

“My purpose is to give life in all its fullness.”
John 10:10

TODAY, look forward, appreciate the future… and live!
