No man’s land

by Bruce Wadd

“This is the best game,” heaved one of my students whilst being chased by the opposition.

If you stood back and watched you would seriously wonder what was going on, there was so much chaos.  But in actual fact high-level strategies were under way in this physical game of ‘Capture the Flag’.

One of the critical elements of this game is a ‘No Man’s Land’, where you can be safe from capture, situated in the middle between either side.

The only challenge with this area… you have absolutely no chance of getting the flag, the ultimate aim of the game.

The empty land between forgiveness and justice is similar.  If you are holding bitterness or animosity towards someone you are in ‘no man’s land’.  You might be safe, even comfortable, but unforgiveness remains.

The only way to ‘get the flag’ is to take a risk. Step out into the unnatural and vulnerable territory of forgiving others!

Who do you need to forgive today?  Your spouse… child… parent… work mate… friend?

“You are truly my disciples if you live as I tell you to…”

John 8:31

TODAY, take a risk and step into forgiveness territory!
