Match lighting

by Bruce Wadd

I wonder which is brighter?  A match in a cave or a spotlight during a live concert?  How much difference will turning on the light make? It really depends on the impact!

Imagine being in a cave without any light at all.  You have probably been in that situation where you could not see a thing – not even your hand two centimetres from your face.  Then you pull out a matchbox, fumble around and finally extracting a match, find the rough side of the box, and clumsily strike the match.

What an immediate difference!  Your eyes take a while to adjust, and you start seeing the things around you – stalagmites, stalactites, water, limestone walls and most importantly, the path you are to follow!

The most difference is made where the darkness is greatest!

Is that true for your life?  When did you discover the wonderful life-giving truth of the Gospel?  What non-Christians do you know are desperate for the light of the truth in their lives?  Who can you influence for eternity?

“I am the Light of the world.

So if you follow Me, you won’t be stumbling through the darkness, for living light will flood your path.”

John 8:12

TODAY, strike the match that can light your life… follow Jesus!
